Festivals happen all throughout the year. Diwali is the most important festival of Hindus beginning with Laxmi-Puja. Navratri is another festival that is celebrated for nine nights in the honor of Goddess Ambaji. On 14th January, Makar Sakranti is celebrated by flying kites. The people of Jamnagar also celebrate Holi. Janmasthami is celebrated in a big way as it is the birthday of Lord Krishna.
The fairs of Jamnagar are generally associated with deities, beliefs and religious practices. Most of the fairs are organized on the banks of river, hill sides, temples, localities, etc.

Location of Jamnagar
Situated in Jamnagar district, the city was established during 1920s by Maharaja Kumar Shri Ranjitsingh ji. That time it's name was Nawanagar. The city came to be known as the 'Oil City of India', the reasons being its two refineries located in the district. Recently, Reliance Industries, India’s biggest private industry, came up with the world’s biggest oil refinery near the village Moti Khavdi. Jamnagar was established as a city by Jay Rava Jadeja in 1540 A.D. as the capital of Nawanagar. It was considered as the most relevant state of the Jadejas in the region. As per an old mythology, Lord Krishna set up his kingdom at Dwarka in the district of Jamnagar after migrating from Mathura town. Jamnagar is the first place in the country to make a sporting history. This is the city of Ranjitsinghji and Duleepsinghji, Maharaja of Cricket and of the former princely state of Jamnagar. The city lies to the South of the Gulf of Kutch and is 337 km west of the state capital, Gandhinagar.I lies 22.47° N and 70.07° E. Jamnagar has a hot semi-arid climate. The hot season lasts from March to May and is very hot and humid, followed by the wet season which includes extremely erratic monsoon rainfall which averages around 630 mm. Tropical cyclones sometimes affect the region during the monsoon spell. Finally the cool season starts from October and goes on till the month of February.
